Moon Rover Games Announced, New Studio Formed by Former Ubisoft and EA Developers

A brand new player has entered the video game industry. Moon Rover Games has been officially established and is based out of Stockholm, Sweden, with the goal of taking what they’ve learned and “explore new, exciting worlds and new ways to create them.” The studio is comprised mostly of ex-Ubisoft and EA developers, most of which have worked on BattlefieldFar CryStar Wars BattlefrontTom Clancy’s The Division, and Mirror’s Edge. All of these franchises have produced high-level AAA entries, and with a collective talent working together, one can only imagine the possibilities that this new studio will venture into.

According to the post on the official website, the studio’s first IP will be a co-op title that is “designed to generate unique, emergent gameplay stories that players can truly make their own.” To further this ideology, the studio has made the front of their page a shot in space from what appears to be the moon with a dog in an astronaut outfit, which is absolutely adorable. In the jobs section on the website, the studio outlines several aspects to what they’re looking for, including application, world design, animation, programmer, and producer. The post also states that they plan on staying “human-sized” in terms of how many people work there and how they impact whichever IP they’re working on.

As we mentioned earlier, the team consists of developers that have worked on several multiplayer/open-world titles at both Ubisoft and EA. All of those IPs have had varying degrees of success, which only excites what their first project will be about. It will more than likely take some time before we hear anything more concrete in regards to that first IP, but based off just the talent alone, the wait will probably be worth it.
