Starting now until March 15, Monster Hunter World players will have the chance to take part in the second part of their Horizon Zero Dawn crossover event. During a new event quest called The Proving, player will have to hunt an Anjanath through the Ancient Forest. However, players may find that the beast is much larger than the ones they might have previously encountered.
Producer Ryozo Tsujimoto wrote in an official PlayStation Blog “Many captivating machines appear in Horizon Zero Dawn, but the one that made the biggest impression on the Monster Hunter: World development team was the Thunderjaw. Anjanath has a very similar skeletal structure to the Thunderjaw, so we felt it was the best fit to be the main adversary in the quest, but not just any Anjanath would do. This Anjanath is at a scale that many players will have never before encountered, and your typical attacks may not reach its height.”
The mission itself is a six star and requires players to be a rank of 11 or higher to be able to take part in it. Those who successfully complete The Proving will be awarded materials that can be used to create Aloy’s bow and armor set from Horizon Zero Dawn, allowing the player’s hunter to look just like her when equipped despite their gender. Also, for anyone that missed Lesson of The Wild, the first Horizon-themed event, Tsujimoto revealed that players will soon have another chance to take part in it due to the fact that Event Quest will operate on a “rotating schedule,” so the previous quest will return “at a later date.”
