Monster Hunter: World Developers Aiming for Autumn 2018 PC Release

Since Monster Hunter: World‘s announcement at E3, the title has gotten multiple announcements, updates, and even two betas for the PlayStation 4, with a concerning lack of updates on the PC version. However, there was a shred of light on Wednesday when Monster Hunter: World producer, Ryozo Tsujimoto, made a video announcement that included information regarding the PC port of the game.

In the video, Tsujimoto first discusses feedback the dev team has received from public Monster Hunter: World showcases and the PlayStation 4 beta. Then, he moves on to discuss how the dev team is “working hard on [the PC version] right now, and aiming for an Autumn 2018 release.” The producer also adds that there will be more updates on the port at a later time, and he thanks fans for their patience regarding the matter.

Although it is a small announcement, at the very least Monster Hunter: World will be releasing on PC the same year as the console version of the game. In addition, the free content that will come after the console launch will be present in the PC version, and those additions might very well be part of the PC version right at launch.

The reason for this lengthy delay might be the fact that there has never been a Monster Hunter game on PC before. Because of this, Capcom might be taking their time to perfectly optimize the experience for both veterans and newcomers alike on PC. With this PC port announcement making headlines, now there are questions of a Switch version coming out at some point, or the possibility of cross-platform play.

Monster Hunter: World will soon rear its head for consoles on January 26, and it is expected to have a worldwide release.
