Monster Hunter Wilds Is Getting Another Beta Test Early February

Back at the end of October leaning in toward the beginning of November, Capcom held an Open Beta Test giving players the opportunity to try out the Character Creator, the beginning of the story and hunt with basic tutorials, and a free-roaming Doshaguma hunt. Today, Capcom has announced that they will be holding an Open Beta Test 2 early next month prior to the game’s launch later in the month on February 28, 2025. There will be two sessions that players can try for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam; Thursday, February 6, 2025, 7:00 pm – Sunday, February 9, 2025 6:59 pm and Thursday, February 13, 2025, 7:00 pm – Sunday, February 16, 2025, 6:59 pm.

Monster Hunter Wilds’ Character Creator for the Open Beta Test 2 will have the full suite of features that will be available in the full version. Players can remake their character as many times as they want and players will be able to carry their Character Creation data into the main game. Those who took part in the first Open Beta Test can carry their saved data into the Open Beta Test 2, including the Character Creation data.

The Story Trial will feature the opening cutscene and a Chatacabra hunt with basic tutorials. The Doshaguma Hunt has players trying to defeat the alpha of the Doshaguma pack.

The Open Beta Test 2 will have all of the content included in the first Open Beta Test plus the opportunity to hunt Gypceroes, a returning monster from the series. Other new content will be revealed at a later date.

Participating in Monster Hunter Wilds’ Open Beta Test 2 will grant players bonuses that they can claim in the full version of the game. This includes a Open Beta Test bonus pendant and the OBT 2 bonus item pack which includes raw meat x10, shock trap x3, pitfall trap x3, tranq bomb x10, large barrel bomb x3, armor sphere x5, flash pod x10, and large dung pod x10.

The developers also noted that they have received the feedback from the last Open Beta Test and are focusing on improving the full version but the improvements including performance, game balance, weapon mechanics, and known issues will not be reflected in the OBT 2 build. The developers released a new video discussing what improvements will be added to the full version.
