MLB The Show 22 Announces Release Date Along With Other Features

On January 31st, the team behind MLB The Show announced that MLB The Show 22 will be released on April 5, 2022, and will feature Shohei Ohtani as the cover athlete. These announcements come along with other key features that The Show released as well.

Although he may seem like an overnight success, Shoehei Ohtani spent years playing in Japan before eventually making the transition to the MLB. Ohtani is coming off a tremendous season for the Los Angeles Angels in which he hit 46 home runs to go along with 100 RBIs and 26 stolen bases. On the mound, Ohtani posted a 3.18 ERA and 156 total strikeouts on the season. This announcement makes history as Ohtani is the first Asian athlete to be featured on a U.S. video game for one of the four major sports. Along with the reveal of Shohei Ohtani came other features that were released as well.

MLB the Show 22 announced features that span over multiple different platforms as well. In the upcoming game, the addition of cross-platform play will be included. This addition means that players will be able to connect and play with others who are accessing the game on another type of console. Similarly, players will have the ability to access their accounts from any console that carries the game. By creating an account on TheShow.com, players can save all of their cards and access their accounts on any of these consoles. Finally, MLB The Show 22 will be available to play on the Nintendo Switch for the first time. This announcement means that the game will be available to play on Nintendo Switch, Xbox, and Playstation consoles.

The game is set to sell at a price of $59.99 USD on the Nintendo Switch and last-gen consoles. For current-gen consoles, the price is set at $69.99 USD. TheShow.com has also begun to sell the game for preorder on their website and will grant a Gold Choice Pack to any player who preorders.
