Earlier this year, MLB The Show 21 was officially announced and it was revealed that it will be coming to PlayStation and Xbox platforms. What was typically PlayStation exclusive, it was revealed in 2019 that the series would no longer be exclusive and would release on other platforms starting this year. Now, Xbox has announced that MLB The Show 21 will be coming to Xbox Game Pass Day One when it launches on April 20, 2021.
Jamie Leece, MLB Senior Vice President, Games & VR said “we’re delighted to announce that MLB The Show 21 is coming to Xbox Game Pass on day one and will be available on April 20 for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, as well as on Android phones and tablets via Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta) for Ultimate members.”
Xbox Game Pass members will be able to play the best version of the game regardless of the platform as MLB The Show Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S Standard Editions will be included. The game also features cross-platform play and cross-progression excluding purchased stubs so you can play against others online and earn and use content across the platform and generation you choose.
MLB The Show 21 features the fastest, deepest, and most intense moment-to-moment baseball action yet with pinpoint pitching, brand new fielding mechanics, and gameplay styles. MLB The Show 21 on the next generation for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S brings in a huge range of improvements, enhancements, and optimizations including thousands of new animations, revolutionary innovation on gameplay, and the all-new Stadium Creator.
“As we said from the beginning, this is an incredible moment for all of us and bringing the franchise to more players and baseball fans is something that we at MLB, MLB Players, Inc., and Xbox are all excited about,” Leece said.
MLB The Show isn’t the only big high-profile third-party game launching on Xbox Game Pass Day One when it releases. In fact, yesterday was the official release of Outriders. Prior to release, Xbox announced that the game would be available on Xbox Game Pass on Day One too.
We’ll have to wait and see what games will be launching on Xbox Game Pass next.
