It looks like Microsoft has another major hit on their hands, this time in regards to one of their most popular IP’s, Minecraft. The titles’ spin off entry, Minecraft Legends, has now amassed more than three million players since it launched on April 18. That was less than two weeks ago, making it one of the biggest launches in the Minecraft franchise. In addition, the developers, Mojang and Blackbird, have also announced that the title has received its first update and should be available to download for any platforms that it is on.
The update, which is being considered a hotfix, is only meant to fix some bugs and glitches that have been plaguing the title since it first became available. Therefore, players shouldn’t expect any new content with this patch, but it is a step in the right direction. When it did launch on April 18, the game was the subject of some criticism, with the major focal point being the title’s inconsistency on utilizing some of its intended features as well as crashing while being played.
As we mentioned earlier, Minecraft Legends is the spin off of the wildly successful Minecraft, with a twist. Instead of playing in a first person perspective, Legends instead utilizes an isometric view/third person perspective with dungeon crawling aspects and real time strategy mechanics. As Mojang and Blackbird continue to improve the overall quality of life features, we can easily see more people checking out Minecraft Legends as the year progresses, increasing the player count exponentially. This newest hotfix won’t wow anyone initially, but it should make the ability to play it much easier.
Minecraft Legends is available now for the PC through Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/Series S, and the Nintendo Switch.
