Microsoft’s Next-Generation Console Is Called Xbox; Xbox Series X Name Allows Room For Other Consoles In The Future

During The Game Awards this past week, fans finally got glimpse ofthe next-generation coming next year. While  there were only two small announcements, one of them made quite a splash as it was so unexpected. One of the announcements was the trailer for Godfall which will be available for PlayStation 5 and PC. This was the only official thing that had anything to do with PlayStation 5. The other announcement was more substantial as Microsoft unveiled the first look at their next-generation console, the Xbox Series X. Now, Microsoft representative speaking to Business Insider has revealed that “the name we’re carrying forward to the next generation is simply Xbox. And at The Game Awards, you saw that name come to life through the Xbox Series X.”

The representative said that “similar to what fans have seen with previous generations, the name ‘Xbox Series X’ allows room for additional consoles in the future.” This all seems to add up to the fact that like this generation, Microsoft will be releasing multiple versions of the next-generation Xbox. Recently, there was a report stating that Microsoft has started to work on another, less powerful version of the Xbox Series X. As of now, Microsoft isn’t saying anything about it. “We’re excited to offer fans a glimpse at the next generation of gaming with Xbox Series X. But beyond that, we have nothing further to share.”

The Xbox Series X wasn’t the only thing revealed by Microsoft at The Game Awards. They provided first look at the sequel to Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II. The trailer that was shown was the game running in-engine from the Xbox Series X. We also know that Halo: Infinite will be available to play when the Xbox Series X releases Holiday 2020.
