Microsoft Says Halo 3 Remaster Is A No Go

Microsoft has already released the “Anniversary” editions of Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 2, but they recently announced that they will not follow up on these titles with remaster of Halo 3, at least not in the near future. Writing on Reddit, Halo community manager Brian Jarrard said, “OMG stop. There is no Halo 3 Anniversary.” This comment was also part of the confirmation that Microsoft will not be showing Halo 6 next month at E3, however it will have “a little something” to reveal for a separate project.

Halo 3 was released in September of 2007, and many people might have expected for Microsoft to release a remaster of the game on it’s 10th anniversary but apparently that is not the case. Halo 3’s Xbox 360 servers are still online and the game is playable on the Xbox One through Halo: The Master Chief Edition for players still looking to experience the game. Microsoft’s Halo and Halo 2 Anniversary editions included remastered campaigns and multiplayer support as well as the ability to switch between remastered and classic graphics.

It is unclear at this time what 343 Industries has in store for E3 2017. There is no hint to whether it mat be for Halo Wars 2 or for Steven Spielberg’s Halo TV show. More will be revealed during Microsoft’s E3 briefing which is scheduled for Sunday afternoon June 11. The most recent Halo FPS Halo 5: Gaurdians was released in October of 2015 and has received a large amount of post launch support. The game was criticized mostly for its single player campaign and how the franchise’s fans expected a different experience in the story from it’s marketing. But whatever changes are made it is currently known that Halo 6 will feature multiplayer split screen support.
