Microsoft Defends the Kinect Bundle

Microsoft representatives claim that once users get a chance to experience the technology, they will be won over.

Microsoft’s senior director of product management, Albert Penello, stated that, “It’s easy to pick it apart when you haven’t experienced it … when users get a chance to try out the new motion control technology, it will be really obvious.”

Defensive? Maybe. Seems like Microsoft may be getting tired of apologizing for their hardware mistakes; most of which they have undone over the last few months. However, as we previously reported, Microsoft is standing strong on their decision to bundle every Xbox One with the Kinect.  They are strong-willed in their resolution that the Kinect device will add an enormous amount of connectivity and enhance the user experience overall.

Pinello went on to discuss how the Kinect used to be an accessory but now it’s hardware. It’s a necessary device that will multiply the capabilities of the Xbox One to grand degrees. Whether this stands to be true is up to debate, but Microsoft believes in their product wholeheartedly and with all the changes they have made, it is interesting that they decided to keep the Kinect. Perhaps they’ve stumbled onto something great. Either way, it grants them a edge over Wii’s connectivity as well as Sony’s attempt at motion control.

We’ll know for sure upon the Xbox One’s release this fall…
