Metro Exodus Gameplay Features and World Element Details Announced

New details regarding Metro Exodus have surfaced online today following detailing from the latest issue of GameInformer. The newest addition to 4A Games’ Metro series will feature various changes to usual gameplay alongside dynamic new visual elements.

Metro Exodus will contain much larger open areas than its predecessors, but will not be open world. Various new enemy types will be introduced that will be unique to the season or area the player resides in. To go against the enemies, players will obtain various weapons that all have up to five different attachments. Weapons can be holstered as to not set off NPCs into a battle.

The largest open area within Metro: Last Light was approximately 111X200 meters, while the largest in Exodus will be about 2000X2000 meters. This marks Exodus being around ten times larger than its predecessor. Various integrated weather systems and full night/day cycles will be implemented to grant added realism. These gameplay additions aim to make the stealth mechanics in Exodus much more challenging and realistic when compared to the previous titles. Exploration is encouraged through sidequests, which can only be discovered by overhearing conversations, talking directly to NPCs, or through notes found in the world. The game hub will move with the player as they explore through the form of a train called the Aurora, which was a point of focus during the games’ initial announcement. Rather than needing to travel between hub locations as necessary in the previous games, this hub will progress alongside the player. Standalone vehicles will also be around to allow players to move more seamlessly through the large maps.

There is another Exodus announcement coming tomorrow, according to a GameInformer teaser. While there is no official release date yet, the game is expected to be available this year. It will be playable on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
