Metal Gear Survive Beta Dates Revealed, Plus New Single-Player Campaign Trailer

Metal Gear Survive developer Konami recently announced that a beta for the game will be held in January 2018, for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players. The game’s four-player co-op mode will be the focus of the beta test, featuring 3 missions across 2 maps in CO-OP mode.

“Players will have a chance to jump into co-op mode to build, defend and fight alongside friends online,” Konami wrote in a statement. “Participants will also receive an in-game bonus redeemable with the purchase of the full game. Bonus items include a FOX HOUND name plate, an accessory Metal Gear REX Head and Accessory bandana.” These bonus items can be accessed upon finishing the creation of your character in the beta. Special daily missions will also be offered for players while the beta runs from January 18th to the 21st.

In addition, a new trailer for Metal Gear Survive’s single-player campaign has been released. The trailer features commentary from producer Yuji Korekado, introducing key survival and gameplay mechanics, plus a few of the game’s action sequences. Players will be building up and defending their base camps, navigate hostile environments and creatures, and “explore and forage the environment for food, water, and other resources to stay alive.”

This will be the first Metal Gear game to be released since the series’ creator, Hideo Kojima, left the studio. After its beta runs in January, Metal Gear Survive will be released in full on February 20th, 2018, for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC via Steam.

Glenn Carreau: Hi! I'm Glenn: recent college grad specializing in interactive arts and media, writer, game creator and connoisseur, pop culture junkie, and semi-professional fan-artist and blogger. In my free time, I function as an unnecessarily specific gaming encyclopedia. I also play the violin, binge crime/detective procedural shows (still not sure why), and do a large amount of digital painting. I'm probably too attached to Dragon Age, but not really inclined to do anything about it. I'm a huge fan of cosplay, foxes, the prose of Jenny Lawson, and Strong Female Characters™.
