Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1 Release Date Confirmed

First announced during PlayStation Showcase last month, Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1 is among the new wave of installments for the Metal Gear franchise. Today, Konami disclosed new information on this anticipated compilation.

During this morning’s Nintendo Direct Showcase, Konami presented trailer for Master Collection Vol. 1. The collection will feature iconic Metal Gear titles like Metal Gear SolidMetal Gear Solid 2: Sons of LibertyMetal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, and some others. It’ll also contain bonus content like the original Metal Gear (1987), screenplay and master books, digital graphic novels, and the Metal Gear Solid Soundtrack.

The full title lineup for Master Collection Vol. 1 includes Metal GearMetal Gear 2: Solid SnakeMetal Gear Solid (including VR Missions/Special Missions), Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty (HD Collection version), Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater (HD Collection version), Metal Gear (NES/FC version), and Snake’s Revenge.

Master Collection Vol. 1 will also feature video content such as digital graphic novels for Metal Gear Solid and Metal Gear Solid 2; the Metal Gear Solid: Digital Graphic Novel depicts the events of the game through beautifully dynamic animated panels while the Metal Gear Solid 2: Digital Graphic Novel expands on the sequel. Other bonus content includes Screenplay Books, which contains in-game text from each title, and Master Books, which detail story and characters. Further, the Metal Gear Solid digital soundtrack is available as a pre-order bonus; it contains newly recorded, orchestral renditions of iconic themes from the Metal Gear Solid series including, “The Best is Yet to Come,” “Can’t Say Goodbye to Yesterday,” and “Snake Eater”.

Konami also noted the Master Collection Vol. 1 cartridge or digital install size for Nintendo Switch reflects all included bonus content. As for other gaming platforms, content will likely be partitioned. Additionally, players can select which title they wish to install first once they have downloaded it onto their chosen platforms.

Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1 will release on October 24th for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam.
