The Metal Gear Solid series is coming back in full swing with the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol.1 dropping today with a remake of Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater well underway. While the majority of the excitement surrounding the series is geared towards the Snake Eater remake, the Master Collection is something that many fans of the series have been waiting for, for a very long time. The Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol.1 includes Metal Gear, Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons Of Liberty, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, and some extra content. All of this for the asking price of $59.99 USD.
The Master Collection and The Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater remake were announced in a Sony PlayStation showcase back in may which left many fans excited for the future of the series. While the remake has no set release date only eyeing a 2024 release, fans’ hunger will be put to rest with the drop of the Master Collection. The Master Collection has received some negative feedback for the lack of graphical upgrades, but apart from that fans are very happy to finally have some next gen ports for games that haven’t been available to play since the PS3’s life cycle.
There’s even more reason for fans of the series to be excited as data miners have already found files in the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol.1 alluding to a potential Vol.2 already being developed. With references to Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns Of The Patriots, Metal Gear Solid 5: Phantom Pain, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker all in the games files. Many have speculated that more remakes are on their way at Konami for the Metal Gear franchise. Remakes have been very profitable over the last couple years in the industry, with Capcoms Resident Evil series being the biggest example. There are concerns being raised by fans of the series on how the Remakes and overall franchise of Metal Gear will be handled without Hideo Kojima, Its creator, having any say in the future. But that is all seemingly ongoing drama between studio and creator.
