It’s finally happening, after months of rumors Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater is getting the remake treatment. It’s received a name change, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater — stylized with Δ — will bring the 2004 game to younger audiences who’ve never played the title and long-time fans looking to relive the nostalgia of the PlayStation 2 classic. Konami revealed that Metal Gear Solid Delta will be coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Currently there’s no release date.
There’s not much the trailer provided, it was merely a short theatrical teaser announcing the remake was official, but it did show Big Boss creeping through the jungle. In a press announcement from Konami Metal Gear Solid Delta “will include all of the original voice characters, storyline and features of combat survival, but elevated and evolved. A new generation of players and loyal fans alike will experience the origin story of Big Boss on current platforms with unprecedented graphics and immersive sound.”
The stealth-action game set during the Cold War follows Big Boss aka Naked Snake who’s sent on a mission in the jungle to retrieve a weapon from the Soviet Union. Throughout the jungle Snake encounters numerous highly-trained enemies. The story had Snake take in hand his moral dilemmas, his alliances and ultimately uncovering the truth of his mission. The PlayStation 2 classic, considered the best in the series was known for its boss fights, survival tactics, and excellent storytelling.
Along with the announcement of Metal Gear Solid Delta, Konami will release a collection of the first three Metal Gear Solid games this summer. Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol.1 will include Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty (HD Collection Version), Metal Gear Sold 3: Snake Eater (HD Collection Version). Currently it’s aiming for an autumn 2023 release.
