Megagon Industries has launched a Kickstarter campaign for Lonely Mountain: Downhill. The studio previously released the games …and then it rained, and Twisted Lines, prior to the Lonely Mountain: Downhill project.
Megagon Industries released a teaser trailer for the game earlier in May, where people could vote for the project to be on Steam. Now the company has a new trailer to promote their Kickstarter, showing off a bit of gameplay and the unique, blocky art style. There are different environments to explore such as mountains, forests, canyons, and areas full of fog. The game is meant to have a “cool arcade-like racing experience,” and has simple controls. Players can “steer, accelerate, brake and sprint, while jumping and sliding through [the] custom bike physics system.” In the midst of speedy cycling, jumping off cliffs, and taking fast turns, the cyclist can also wipe-out, falling off the bike into water or on the ground from the tops of mountains. Checkpoints exist at set locations that allow the cyclist to restart near the crash site, so wiping out doesn’t hinder the journey too much. There are multiple paths to the finish line, no loading screens while riding, and many ways to optimize the bike for different riding and crashing experiences.
Those who would like to experience a challenge while riding can try to beat their best cycling records and complete different pre-set modes as well.
- Classic Time Trial Mode: Go for the best-time and don’t hold back as you can restart each section as often as you like.
- Challenge Mode: Overcome specific challenges, ranging from finding short cuts, making certain jumps or reaching specific locations.
- Hard Time Trial Mode: Failed attempts will count as a penalty to your best time – giving you the challenge to find the right trade off between risk vs. reward.
- One Life Mode: Only for the toughest riders. You will feel your adrenaline rising with every meter you get closer to the finishing line and just be praying that you won’t hit that one rock you normally hit every time!
The Lonely Mountain: Downhill Kickstarter campaign aims to make $41,195 and has 28 days left for funding. If the campaign is successful, the game will be released for Windows, Mac and Linux in 2018.
Updates on the project can be viewed through the Kickstarter campaign, the official website, as well as the official Twitter and Facebook accounts.
