Cygame’s Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising is one of the true unsung heroes of the current day fighting game community. While practically every other popular game has a laundry list of complaints to go alongside the positives, Granblue seems to just be sticking it out and steadily providing for their playerbase. Hence the gameplay reveal for Meg at the very first ever EVO held in France during Granblue’s top 8 (which you can watch here).

Just a regular girl trying to enjoy a summer vacation, Meg has seemingly unknowingly stumbled into a grand battle royale involving dragon powered knights, evil demon sorcerers, and a guy named Seox. Meg brought a knife and a shark to a sword and magic fight.

She’s more than a match, with another character named Mari backing her up with her shark lasers. Meg’s fighting style seems to be to rushdown and confuse, with a shark powered dash and jumps alongside Mari supporting from the back to cover Meg’s rushdown. Though the Granblue Fantasy Versus trailers tend to lean on how a character can rushdown, and don’t really go into much detail beyond that, which makes sense since they’re about 2 minutes long at most, most of the characters on the roster have more mechanical depth than what we see in these short snippets.

Meg’s design is already bringing a lot of fans, and her playstyle seems to be a ton of fun too from what little we can see of it. As I said it’s cool that Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising is still receiving support from its diehard playerbase and it receiving consistent spots at these EVO events is such a cool thing to see.
