At Oculus Connect 6, EA and Respawn Entertainment have announced the return of the Medal of Honor series with Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond. The game is being made from the ground up exclusively for VR and will be available on the Oculus Rift in 2020.
In Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond, players will step into the boots of an agent of the Office of Strategic Services in war-torn Europe. The game will have a deep single-player campaign that takes you through historic events on land, air, and sea, sabotaging Nazi bases, subverting enemy plans, aiding the French Resistance and much, much more. The game will also include unique multiplayer modes and features.
Game Director Peter Hirschmann said “It’s a great feeling to introduce Medal of Honor to a whole new generation of gamers on a new platform for the franchise, I’ve been fortunate to be a part of this franchise since the beginning, and putting this game on the Oculus Rift allows us to be more immersive than we’ve ever been before. If the game we’re making ignites people’s imaginations and illuminates the world, then we’ve accomplished what we’ve set out to do.”
Peter Hirschmann also said “Medal of Honor has always been about celebrating the everyday people who did extraordinary things in the face of overwhelming odds, and Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond continues that tradition in new and unique ways. Using interviews and 360° footage, we’ve had the privilege of capturing powerful first-hand stories from combat veterans of the war, using state-of-the-art technology to preserve their stories for future generations. It’s an incredible feeling for us to be back working with this series again, telling unforgettable stories of the men and women who stood up and fought against evil. We can’t wait to share more with you over the next few months.”
