Developer Toge Productions and Publisher Chorus Worldwide have announced that their turn based stategy mecha role-playing game Kriegsfront Tactics will be available on the PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and Xbox Series X|S. The title was originally announced exclusively on PC as a demo was released on Steam under the title Kriegsfront Tactics Prologue.
Gematsu reports Kriegsfront Tactics is set in an alternate 1970’s amidst a conflict in the jungles of southeast Asia. You will assume the role of a mecha squad commander sent behind enemy lines. As leader you will manage your team and carry out missions with your mechs. Kriegsfront Tactics features customizable mechs and each character has unique skills and traits.
Project Manager Ivan at Toge Productions was interviewed by The Tuesday Review and shared about the game’s inspiration “Well Kriegsfront Tactics is a game based on, well inspired by Front Mission and XCOM, so the game is based from southeast asian, vietnam war-esque, but is completely fictional. Because we are an Indonesian developer so we have that particular aspect in the game as well. Especially during the military aggression right during-after our independence.” As a follow up Project Manager Ivan was asked what development progression looked like and when the game would be out “We cannot say for sure, there is still a long way to go. Still a few work in progress stuff that we have to tackle and especially another layer that we have to tackle. So for the current timeline it’s really hard to say, at the earliest probably in at least 2 years.”
Kriegsfront Tactics Prologue is sitting comfortably on the Steam Store with a ‘Very Positive’ score from players. Toge Productions and Chrous Worldwide have aimed to create a game for diehards of their respective genre while paying homage to their countries roots. Their hard work thus far is paying off, hopefully the wait for the full release will be worth it.
