Mech Shooter Steel Hunters Releases In Early Access April 2

Developer and publisher Wargaming has announced that their free to play, mecha, player-versus-player-versus-environment game Steel Hunters will be releasing in Steam’s Early Access for PC on April 2.

Gematsu shared a statement from developer Wargaming and their intent with the early access release “We want to build Steel Hunters with you. By starting in Early Access we can refine and expand the game together ensuring every shot fired and every Hunter unleashed is finely tuned. And don’t worry—this won’t be a drawn-out process. Our goal is to move quickly to a full release once your feedback has helped us polish the core experience.”

Wargaming promised in the same statement to provide more content for the full release, quality of life-features, and “polished” mechanics based on the feedback received from the release. Monetization will not be included in the Early Access build in an effort to garner the most accurate feedback though will be introduced over time.

Steel Hunters is set in a post-apocalyptic world where an alien resource known as Starfall crucial for human survival has also caused its downfall. You’ll assume the role of someone who battles for this precious resource, in a giant mech known as a Hunter on the remains of this planet.

Hunter mechs include multiple playstyles, weapons, gears, mods and abilities. Steel Hunters features unique team synergy abilities for extraction. Boosters and gear are collectable. Buildings are destructible being used to ambush opponents or tactfully used as cover.

Developer Wargaming would like to emphasize the high octane nature of the game, that given the PvPvE nature of the game should keep players on edge, as the moment you quit hunting you’re likely to become the hunted. With the push to create a polished experience, Wargaming may have set players for positive experience come next month.
