Mass Effect Legendary Edition Release Date May Have Been Leaked, Slated for March 12

This past November, BioWare officially confirmed what everyone was hoping for when they finally announced the Mass Effect Legendary Edition, which is a remastered collection of the Mass Effect trilogy. While the studio did confirm that the collection would release in Spring of this year, they did not give any information on an exact launch date. Well, it looks like that date may have been leaked, as a Singapore based online retailer, Shopitree had listed the game for the PlayStation 4 with the release date of March 12 and was sub-sequentially tweeted for everyone to see. As of this writing, both the listing and tweet have been taken down, but at this point, it’s too late and everyone already has this date in mind.

It’s important to note that neither BioWare nor EA have officially commented on this leak and they’ll more than likely just announce the launch date when they’re ready to do so. However, on the flip side, these kinds of leaks sometimes end up being accurate, as the company generally sees the writing on the wall and reveals the date not too long afterward. It’ll be interesting to see what BioWare and EA do, as this is easily one of the most anticipated collection of games to be remastered in recent years.

The Mass Effect Legendary Edition contains Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2, and Mass Effect 3 with all of their respective DLC contained in one whole package, including the promotional-only items. Despite being announced for the PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, you should still be able to play them on both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S thanks to hardware’s backwards compatibility. BioWare dropped a couple of more announcements at The Game Awards this past year when they teased the next Dragon Age and a brand new Mass Effect entry, which looks like it could be a full sequel to the original trilogy.
