Mass Effect: Andromeda N7 Day Trailer Hints At Game’s Story And Villain

Happy N7 Day y’all!

After the gameplay showcase during the PlayStation 4 Pro reveal we haven’t heard all that much about the game. In preparation for N7 Day, Bioware released short teaser hinting at the game’s place in the Mass Effect timeline and introducing the Andromeda Initiative with the promise of more to come. Now on N7 Day we have a new trailer to watch.

The trailer doesn’t reveal much other than beautiful environments and stunning set pieces, but it does tease that the people in search of a new home have been asleep for some time. This could mean that the Mass Effect relays are still not working or couldn’t take them all the way to the Andromeda galaxy.

The trailer also showed off a new villain, nothing is known about him but they don’t look like any races players have encountered in the past. We can infer from the trailer that he is interested in who these strange new creatures are (us) and what makes them tick.

In the Andromeda Initiative trailer, we learn that there are several arks, each harboring a different race. Each ark has their own Pathfinder, a specialist with the right blend of scientist, soldier, and guide. Their job is to find a new home for their ark on one of the planets deemed habitable. Hyperion, presumably our ship, will have its own Pathfinder until the story dictates that we must take up the mantel.

If you choose to join the Andromeda Initiative (i.e. actually sign-up) you will get info on some of the things in the game like vehicles, explorable planets, and the new races we will meet in Andromeda. Those who complete their “training” will receive some weapons and biotics to use in-game.

The trailer says the game will be available Spring 2017 but Dark Horse, who published the art book, said it would be available at launch and that the book would be released on March 21st. It will launch on the Xbox One, PC, and all versions of the PS4.
