Mass Effect: Andromeda Gets Version 1.06 Update

The latest entry in BioWare’s popular Mass Effect series, Mass Effect: Andromeda, came out earlier this year and has been criticized by fans and critics alike for its various technical bugs and glitches, earning it a 70/100 critic score aggregate and a 4.7/10 user score aggregate on Metacritic. BioWare has since attempted to rectify this with a series of patches, the latest of which is now available.

Some of the updates available in this new patch are sure to make players happy, such as the general improvement of performance, stability and cinematic cutscenes, as well as the increased number of autosaves. Other updates may not be seen as favorably, however, such as the new inability to carry over special items into a New Game+.

Kotaku also reports that some romancing options are being restricted in the new patch. The patch notes state that the player will no longer be able to romance both Cora and Peebee at the same time or Vetra and Peebee at the same time. The Mass Effect series has been known since its first game for its romancing mechanic, so putting limitations on these actions, even if these limitations simply prevent the player from performing morally questionable actions, is an interesting decision. Not to mention that there are other morally questionable things the player can do anyway; Kotaku goes on to explain how the player can still choose to have a serious relationship with one character while having sexual flings with other characters on the side.
