Idea Factory and Compile Heart are nearing the launch of their upcoming game, Mary Skelter 2. The project is the sequel to Mary Skelter: Nightmares, originally released back in September 2017 for the PlayStation Vita. It was announced, just earlier this month, that this new installment to the series will be launched exclusively for the Nintendo Switch come October 22nd, 2019.
For those unfamiliar with the title, Mary Skelter 2 is a first-person, dungeon-crawling RPG where players can take on the roles of various Blood Maidens, or fairytale-inspired characters. Help these young heroes evade indestructible Nightmares and engage in turn-based battles in an attempt to escape from a living prison.
Since its official website launch earlier this month, the team has shared images and a bit of background on just a few of the characters players can expect to see. Get ready to do battle with some new and returning faces such as childhood friends Otsuu (the Crane Prince) and Little Mermaid, Nightmare Jack, the ‘Hero” Hameln, Gretel, Rapunzel, and Kaguya. You can find more information using the Mary Skelter 2 Character Gallery here.
New to the series? Never fear. The game also allows both new and veteran players the chance to revisit the previous title by including the full remake of Mary Skelter: Nightmares. Now, nearly a full two years later, Idea Factory will re-release the game with a number of improvements based on feedback received from their fans. The additional content will become unlocked after completed Mary Skelter 2. However, the team says that it is possible to enjoy the first installment beforehand by downloading a free DLC. While it is entirely up to the players to decide the order in which they play the games, the studio team recommends playing Mary Skelter 2 before Mary Skelter: Nightmares.

Mary Skelter 2 will be playable for the Nintendo Switch (through eShop) only.
