Marvel’s Spider-Man Gets New Story Trailer and Bonuses At SDCC

During the Marvel Games Panel at this year’s San Diego Comic Con, Insomniac Games revealed a new story trailer for their highly anticipated Playstation 4 exclusive title, Marvel’s Spider-Man.

In the trailer, fans in the audience were treated to footage of a new antagonist, antihero Silver Sable, for the first time. In the clip, Mayor Norman Osborn is going to extremes to end the chaos plaguing the city, which includes labeling Spider-Man as a dangerous vigilante and setting the silver-haired mercenary on him. As the situation in his city spirals out of control with a mercenary organization and multiple villains wreaking havoc, Spider-Man must rely on his new partners, Mary Jane Watson (MJ) and Miles Morales. This suggests that one of the game’s central themes revolves around the theme of partnership, as the E3 trailer revealed the villains in the city have certainly bought into that philosophy. Additional cast members were announced as well, with MJ voiced by Laura Bailey, and Stephen Oyoung as Mr. Negative/Martin Li.

Aside from a trailer drop, the panel also revealed the final suit in the Spidey Suit Pack preorder bonus for the first time. The Velocity Suit – created by legendary character designer and comic book artist Adi Granov – joins the Spider-Punk and Iron Spider as alternative suits that players can unlock in-game as well as through pre-ordering.

Granov also designed a new PS4 theme that will be included as a pre-order bonus, though a sneak peek is all that the audience saw at the event.

Lastly, Insomiac Games also announced a limited edition, Marvel’s Spider-Man Playstation 4 Pro. Not only does it come in the classic Amazing Red color, the console is also emblazoned with the iconic white spider icon as seen on Spider-Man’s in-game Advanced Suit.

Marvel’s Spider-Man will release September 7 exclusively on the Playstation 4., and demos of the game are available to play on the SDCC show floor at the Marvel booth.
