Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is finally here after 5 years since the first title’s release. Players around the world slowly started their hands on one of the most anticipated titles of the year yesterday with many more beginning their journey with New York’s two Spider-Men today. The excitement is real as #Spider-Man2 reached number one on trending on X last night in anticipation for the launch. The game has been released to almost universal critical acclaim with Insomniac finally getting their first Metacritic must play badge.
This hasn’t slowed down the studio at all, with plans for future titles already well underway such as the previously announced Marvel’s Wolverine game, and what seems to be potential spin-off game with Venom as the titular character. While not much is known on the timetable for Marvel’s Wolverine release, its very interesting that talks of a Venom Spinoff have already begun. In the article, Eammon Jacobs sat down with the senior narrative director of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and asked questions regarding the future of the series. The most interesting being a question regarding a potential Venom spin-off, which Jon Paquette said the following.
“So, here’s what we’re doing. We’re focused on ‘Spider-Man 2,’ and what we’re gonna do is we’re gonna wait to see how the fans react,” he said. “We’re gonna listen to the fans and we’re gonna ask ourselves, ‘Okay, what do the fans really want?'”

We can only hope the development team comes back from their vacations with new and fresh ideas on how to tackle future stories in their Marvel Universe. But for now the important thing is that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is out now and it’s sure to be something worth experiencing.
