Marvel vs Capcom Infinite Announced at PSX with New Gameplay Trailer

At this year’s PSX, Shwan Layden gave fans what they were looking for. After wrapping up Uncharted 4’s new expansion trailer, Shawn quickly followed up the news with an all new Marvel vs. Capcom trailer, confirming earlier reports. The new game, which will launch in 2017 will be called Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite.

The opening trailer featured the classic series’ ultimate iconic character, Ryu, facing off with Marvel’s own icon, Iron-Man. To assist these two heroes are Capcom’s Mega Man X and Marvel’s Captain Marvel. The two teams battle it out in epic fashion, as the Ryu and Captain Marvel each collect what appears to be an infinity stone out of midair. These infinity stones are found throughout the Marvel Universe. These have been used before even as far back as the 1995 Marvel Super Heroes, where characters can increase attributes by collecting the stones/gems.

Closing the night was the 2016 Capcom Cup, which saw Team Liquid’s Du “NuckleDu” Dang take home the championship, becoming the first American to win the Cup. After dispatching his fellow American opponent, Ricki Ortiz, “NuckleDu” became the best fighter in the world, overthrowing the dominant region of Asia. In total, Dang won $230,000 Saturday night.

I believe I have perfect synergy between Guile and Mika because they cover each other’s’ bad matchups.

After the Capcom Cup, an extended trailer for Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite was played, this time featuring gameplay:

It’s still unclear whether the game will feature any X-Men, though none of the trailers at PSX showed any characters from the X-Men series.

The trailer ended with the confirmation that the game will be coming out for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. As for gamers who can’t wait until next year to play the series’ new installment, the previous, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 was made available on the PS4 and the PS4 Pro on Saturday night. Xbox One owners will, however, have to wait until March of next year to get the game.
