NetEase has rolled out a new update for Marvel Rivals as part of its ongoing Season 3 content cycle, introducing a fresh team-up mechanic, balance adjustments, and behind-the-scenes refinements, all while keeping the servers online. The patch, which went live on July 24, is part of the developer’s continued push to evolve the team-based shooter in response to player feedback.
The headline addition is the new Team-Up between Human Torch and The Thing, which allows players to trigger special combo effects when both characters are used in tandem. The Team-Up feature, originally introduced in Season 2, is one of Marvel Rivals’ unique mechanics that encourages synergy across character picks, with more Team-Up mechanics being teased for future releases. Alongside the new combo, the patch also brings updates to progression pacing. The number of accessory points earned through regular gameplay has been slightly increased, easing what some players felt was a steep grind for unlockables.
On the technical side, the update delivers minor bug fixes and performance improvements, with developers prioritizing issues tied to ability hit detection and movement delays, two areas that had drawn criticism from the community in recent weeks. Despite the changes, NetEase confirmed that matchmaking and server access would remain uninterrupted during the rollout.
Notably, this patch comes without major hero reworks or map additions, signaling a more iterative approach for the remainder of the season. In a brief note included with the patch notes, the development team acknowledged recent feedback and reiterated their intention to release “fewer sweeping changes mid-season” in order to preserve gameplay consistency for competitive players.
Marvel Rivals remains in its early live-service stages, but NetEase appears to be pacing its content additions carefully. With the Team-Up system continuing to expand and player customization options steadily improving, the studio seems focused on small but targeted changes to maintain momentum.
