One of the most anticipated fighting games is easily Bandai Namco’s Tekken 8. The title, which was initially revealed during EVO 2022, has been near the top of everyone’s fighting game wishlist for a while, and at long last, we’re finally going to get the long-awaited next entry in one of the most fabled franchises in history. For the past couple of months, the studio has been revealing character after character, giving us a glimpse of their fighting style, and how they look on the modern console hardware. The newest fighter has just been revealed, and it’s arguably one of the most popular characters in not just Tekken, but in all of the fighting game community; Marshall Law!
Law, who is hugely inspired by real-life martial artist Bruce Lee, utilizes nearly the exact same fighting style of the fighting legend, Jeet Kune Do. Law is first shown looking a bit more weathered than his usual clean look, with more scars and a more gritty exterior. He also wields nunchucks with some of his moves, which we first saw him do in Tekken 7, albeit after finding the item in a special game mode. Law’s moveset mostly consists of quick and powerful strikes that keep the opponent off balance, which is then followed up with even harder attacks that combine juggling.
As we already mentioned, Tekken 8 was initially teased during EVO 2022, and formally announced during the September State of Play. It went on to receive brand new gameplay trailer at The Game Awards 2022. Since then, Bandai Namco has been rolling out the roster one character reveal at a time. The company also plans to hold alpha tests across the globe in order to intake feedback and advance the game into the beta stage of development. The very first alpha test will take place at EVO Japan, which is slated to commence from March 31-April 2.
