Magic: The Gathering’s New Card Expansion Includes Assassin’s Creed and Fallout

Wizards of the Coast announced on Saturday new card expansions will be coming to Magic: The Gathering which includes Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed and Bethesda’s Fallout.

The Magic Europe Twitter account announced their “Magic at 30” panel for GenCon2023, which goes over what Wizards of The Coast has in store for Magic players for 2024.  In a follow-up tweet, they announced the Fallout collaboration, as a part of the series, “Magic: The Gathering‘s Universe’s Beyond expansions.”  They say in the tweet, “Start saving up your bottle caps now! Four Universes Beyond x Fallout Commander Decks will be an asset to every post-nuclear survivor. Coming in March 2024!”

Magic Europe tweeted later the roadmap for 2024, that only includes the first three quarters of the year.  Q1 includes Ravnica Remastered, Murders at Karlow Manor, and Fallout.  Q2 is Outlaws of Thunder Junction, and Modern Horizons III, and lastly, Q3 includes an Assassin’s Creed card expansion, Bloombyrrow, and Duskmourn: House of Horror.  The most notable and surprising ones thus far for many fans were the Fallout and Assassin’s Creed card expansions.  The Fallout expansion will be released in March 2024 according to its website, and Assassin’s Creed will be released in July 2024.

Other revealers and collaborations were announced besides Assassin’s Creed.  Magic Europe announced the card expansion of Final Fantasy saying, “MTGxFinalFantasy will be the next Universe’s Beyond tentpole release! Encompassing the first game all the way up to Final Fantasy XVI!”  This is surprising to see since Square Enix already has an official Final Fantasy trading card game, and with the popularity of Magic: The Gathering can possibly introduce more fans to the Final Fantasy series.

The 2023 big expansion collaboration was with Lord of The Rings, which saw a 1-of-1 “The One Ring” card that was purchased by Post Malone and shown off on TikTok. According to VGC, the card was apparently valued at $2M but no one knows how much Malone paid for the card.  I’m guessing it was more than $2M.

I’m not one that’s into trading card games, but as a fan of Fallout, those cards sound pretty cool. The same with the Assassin’s Creed cards.
