Love Her, Hate Her, Don’t Let Her Turn Your Life Into A Living Hell: Tulpa the Unseen Lover

Nick is going through a rough patch in his life. He’s living in a foreign country working as a manga artist and is completely alone and broke. Due to all of this, his mental health is not as well off as it would be expected for an average 23-year-old. To top it all off, he has an embarrassing secret he is desperate to hide; if anyone were to find out, they would think he is a “clinically insane loser.”

His secret? A cute girl.

As simple and harmless as it sounds, the issue is no one else can see her. She’s can be described as a tulpa, a manifestation of another sentient being living within a person’s mind. Nick created her to be his best friend, the person he speaks to and who he hopes can fix all the problems he’s going through. As sweet as she starts off to be, there are risks that come with such a being. “What if she gets too attached? Does she like ice cream? There’s only one way to find out.”

Tulpa the Unseen Lover is being developed by indie company Horse Position. They are comprised of a married couple who are professional animators and have an impressive resume. The couple has worked on Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, Zootopia 2, Overwatch, and more. Horse Position is more than proud to say their cutseens and CGs are all hand-animated and no generative AI was used to create the game.

The colorful and stunning artwork of this visual novel game breathe life into not only Nick, but his tulpa. Players will get to name the tulpa, dress her, and make decisions that will shape what ending Nick will receive. The story will be full of laughs, drama, and eventually psychological horror. But, “What can go wrong, especially if the tulpa is this cute?”

Tulpa the Unseen Lover is available to wishlist on Steam now.

Laurie Rose Contreras: Hi everyone! I'm Laurie. I love video games of all kinds, but especially horror. Being immersed into a different world feels like a mini vacation for the mind, even if it is being chased by zombies or some sort of abstract monster.
