One of the most anticipated games of 2026 is the upcoming action RPG, Lords of the Fallen 2. As the sequel to Lords of the Fallen, every piece of promotional material hints that the new title will be an improvement over the base game, leaning even further into what made the original so popular. A new teaser trailer, titled “Umbral”, comes at a big time for the series, given the sales milestone reached by the first game. It focuses on new gameplay footage, highlighting some of the unique encounters in the new game.
The trailer by showing off the massive scale of the environment, with ashes raining from the sky and rock formations in the distance being obscured by a cloudy smog. The player character is shown fighting undead monster, cycling between different combat styles including daggers, a large sword, and an ax and shield combo. The next fight against a four-legged monster shows off the push and pull combat that is common for the genre, with players forced to dodge out of the way of stronger attacks to create openings to strike back.
The second half of the trailer dives into more varied mechanics. The first of these is a small platforming section across moving rock over the abyss. The enemies also get more complex, showing off teleport moves and fire-based combo attacks. To combat this, the player character keeps at range, launching light-based projectiles as another form of combat. The trailer ends by showing more of the fight against the four-legged beast.
As more footage of the game comes out, hype around the release only seems to increase. Among the comments on the YouTube trailer, many emphasize how the game has already improved over the original and how the moments are impressive given that the footage is of the game’s alpha version. Lords of the Fallen 2 is set to release later in 2026.
