Cave Monsters recently posted an update regarding the development of their point-and-click style murder mystery game titled Lord Winklebottom Investigates: The Case of the Expired Axolotl. The Twitter post stated that the project, which had re-launched their Kickstarter campaign last month, is now fully funded. The campaign which began on April 17th, actually surpassed its overall goal on April 23rd, just six days later.
According to the game’s Kickstarter page, which is still active, the team has included “Stretch Goals” that, if reached, will allow for the inclusion of additional material in the final game. The first “Stretch Goal” has already been unlocked. This means that the final game will now include an extra area of exploration, “The Voyage”. Players will now be able to follow Lord Winklebottom and Dr. Frumple as they sail to the Isle of Barghest, as well as exploring the docks and solving additions puzzles. Reaching this goal will also allow for Spanish translations to be available upon launch day.
There is a second goal in progress. The “Nautilus” is an underwater vessel owned by Admiral Gilfrey. This expansion would allow for even more puzzles and mysteries, as well as further elaboration on the Admiral’s background. Italian translations are included in this update. This goal has not yet been reached, however, there is still time for it to be included in the game before launch. The studio says that more “Stretch Goals may be added later on.
Cave Monsters aims to launch Lord Winklebottom Investigates: The Case of the Expired Axolotl in April of 2020. The game will be playable on PC and now confirmed to be available on the Nintendo Switch. The game will be accessible to Switch players in June of 2020, just a few months after the PC release.
