The official title of the Lollipop Chainsaw remake was revealed yesterday August 10th. Unfortunately, it was also revealed that it’s release window would be pushed to next year. According to the press release, Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP is set to release summer 2024.
“Although development of RePOP was carried out with the intention of a 2023 release, our commitment to providing the best possible quality experience to our players led us to making the hard decision to extend the development period in order to ensure this,” stated Dragami Games.
“We sincerely apologize to all who had been waiting for the latest installment in the Lollipop Chainsaw series, and kindly ask for your understanding in this matter.”
Lollipop Chainsaw was developed by Grasshopper Manufacture in collaboration with movie director James Gunn, Suda51. Lollipop Chainsaw tells the story of Juliet Starling, a high-school cheerleader turned zombie slayer amid a zombie apocalypse. Initially launching on June 2012 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, Lollipop Chainsaw eventually became a cult classic, praised by its fanbase for its bombastic and satisfying gameplay and design.
Following the remake’s official title announcement and release date delay series producer, Yoshimi Yasuda revealed a first look at the main heroine’s design on X, formerly named Twitter. Additionally, Yasuda apologized to fans for the delay in a short statement.
“We are working hard on game development, but we need a little more time.” said Yasuda. “We will do our best to create the game that you will love, so we ask for your continued support.”
Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP was first announced back in July 2022, nearly a month after its 10th-year anniversary celebration. Dragami Games has yet to reveal what platforms the game will release on.
