A John Wick video game could possibly happen in the future. According to Indiewire, Lionsgate executives discussed the possibility of such game in an earnings call with investors on Thursday. A John Wick video game has been a concept that fans have been urging for since the franchises creation, unsurprisingly. The action packed gun action and fight choreography from the series makes for a great game, and since John Wick has made appearances in games like Fortnite, it seemed almost inevitable.
Jon Feltheimer, Chief Executive Officer of LionsGate praised the filmmakers within the John Wick franchise, for keeping it alive and making the series more valuable. The revenue each movie developed has shown the importance of the series to the LionsGate executives. It’s not surprising that they would be considering a video game with the revenue its gained over the years. And with its latest movie John Wick: Chapter 4 releasing on March 24, 2023, the calls for a video game are likely to only grow.
Indiewire pointed out that a “John Wick” already exists since 2020 called John Wick Hex, putting the titular character into a strategy game. That being said, the idea isn’t set in stone. During the earnings call Jon Feltheimer, Chief Executive Officer of LionsGate, reigned in his excitement at the prospect of the project considering that it was still in the very early-stages. “I don’t want to get ahead of myself here, but we believe there is a big AAA game to be made out of ‘John Wick.’” said Feltheimer. “We have been fielding proposals. We certainly are interested in moving that forward, but I don’t want to say anything more about that at this time.” Despite it not being an explicit confirmation that a game is happening, it definitely seems that it could happen sometime soon.
It would be exciting if the proposals go through however, only time will tell whether or not we get the game that fans have been waiting for for years.
