Linkle Might Return For Future Games

Nintendo delighted their legions of Zelda fans earlier in the year with their official Linkle announcement. Originally and vaguely spoken of in concept art only, Linkle has become an internet sensation and a playable character for Nintendo’s action-packed spinoff, Hyrule Warrior Legends for the 3DS. The Hyrule Heroine since captured the hearts of many with her endearing trailers where she showcased her spinning kicks and crossbow finesse. Additionally, Linkle was also announced to be an upcoming unlockable character in the Wii-U version of Hyrule Warriors Legends.

Excitingly, Nintendo appears to be on the path to be hanging up their “male only chosen one” hat, because in an online interview conducted with IGN, Nintendo producer Eiji Aonuma seemed increasingly hopeful that Linkle has potential to appear in future Zelda games! IGN quotes Aonuma, saying:

“I’m sure we will keep her in mind when thinking about future titles. I had a chance to give feedback on Linkle during development, but the satisfying action of using a crossbow, which we developed for the spinoff title Link’s Crossbow Training, was implemented this time completely by Koei Tecmo.”

Aonuma also went on, not outright claiming the feisty Linkle canon, but assuring fans that Linkle seems to have found a comfortable home in the franchise by saying:

“It may feel a little different from other titles in the franchise, but she doesn’t feel out of place at all in the world of the Zelda games.”

Many fans are eager to get their hands on their copies of Hyrule Warriors Legends for the 3Ds, due out in North America on March 25, 2016, where Linkle will be playable for the very first time–but hopefully not her last!
