Lightmatter Offers Mind-Bending Shadow Puzzles Later This Year

The amount of independent studios releasing quality titles these days has become abundant and given the gaming industry new life with mechanics, stories, art style, and much more. Tunnel Vision Games is another one of these up and coming studios that will be presenting their Portal-inspired title at some point this year. Lightmatter is described in a simple way, “The floor is lava but with shadows.”

In Lightmatter, players will have to tackle a new angle in the puzzle genre through a first-person view where shadows mean game over. Its art style is shaping up to be truly unique in its “gloomy” science-fiction setting, which will no doubt add to the challenging, environmental puzzles that will have to be solved in order to progress. The Denmark studio has deemed it “If Limbo and Portal had a weird baby.” See the living, mechanical environment and how light must be maneuvered successfully to stay safe from the shadows in the last video from Tunnel Vision:

What may surprise skeptical players is that the famous voice actor David Bateson will be delivering Lightmatter’s gripping narrative. Bateson is well-known in the industry for his voicing of Agent 47 in the recent Hitman video game franchise as well as the older games. His resume reaches back over a span of games going all the way to Hitman: Codename 47 in 2000. His powerful performance is sure to leave its mark in Lightmatter and anyone who is interested in the game now has the ability to join its Discord server. By joining, players will have the early opportunity to play a small demo of the game and give the studio valuable feedback. The alpha playtest sign-up can be found here.

Tunnel Vision is planning on launching Lightmatter on the Steam store and consoles at an undetermined date this year.
