After just over three months of waiting, the third episode of five in the Life is Strange 2 saga has finally been released. Episode three, called “Wastelands,” was released earlier today and sees the return of Cassidy and Finn, two characters introduced in the previous episode. The brothers, along with their friends, embark on a journey of self-discovery in the latest installment of Life is Strange 2. You can check out the launch trailer below.
Daniel and Sean find themselves reunited with Cassidy and Finn, joining their group of castaways. “They have been on an intense journey, and this episode represents a moment for them to experience some sense of normality and focus on themselves, although within the context of an alternative community and lifestyle,” said Michel Koch and Raoul Barbet, the co-creators of the game, in press release. The two still plan on getting to Puerto Lobos but need money to do so. Leaving the solace of their camp in the woods, the brothers, along with Cassidy and Finn, join what appears to be an illegal grow op. There they work in lackluster conditions for some gruff-looking characters.
As Finn and Daniel grow closer, and memories of their father bubble to the surface, the relationship between Sean and Daniel becomes strained. The trailer reveals that Daniel is starting to get a better hold of his powers, able to move small pebbles as well as much larger logs and fallen trees. As the confrontation between Sean and his younger brother comes to a head, Sean pushes Daniel further away, both metaphorically and literally with his powers.
While another entry in the series is a welcome after a bit of a wait, there’s definitely more waiting to come for the next one. Episode four will release on August 22, and the final episode will make its appearance on December 3. For now, episode three, along with the first two episodes, “Roads” and “Rules,” are available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
