Final Fantasy VII Remake Gets A New Trailer

Sony has just held its State of Play event which is a presentation that shows off new game announcements and also displays what Sony has been working on in a somewhat Nintendo Direct like style. Many fans were really looking forward to This State of Play presentation since Sony has opted to be pretty quiet this year about what they’ve been working on and haven’t had any big news or events in the more recent months.

However, during today’s presentation there were a few notable mentions of titles, but there was one in particular that made an appearance after being behind closed doors for some time. Square Enix’s famous action RPG Final Fantasy VII Remake received a teaser trailer after not being seen since PSX 2015. We’ve heard bits and pieces about the game on how it will reportedly be episodic, and that it has had its share of development troubles.

Last year, it was reported that Square Enix abandoned all the work done by third party developer CyberConnect2 and moved the game’s development completely in house. With that news, many expected not to see the game for quite some time even though it had been announced 3 years prior. But to everyone’s surprise, Square Enix was able to grace us with a trailer showing off some cutscenes with a bit of dialogue, a look at some familiar faces such as Aerith, and even a quick ominous scene of Sephiroth. After the presentation Tetsuya Nomura, the game’s director, made a announcement by way of the games official Twitter account stating

It’s also worth noting is that Square Enix has confirmed that they are having press conference again this year at E3 which will take place on Monday, June 10, at 6 PM PT so you can most likely expect more news on the title there. Final Fantasy VII Remake does not yet have a release date.
