LEGO Dimensions Showcases Impressive Voice Cast

Revealed very recently by developer Traveller’s Tales (or TT Games), their upcoming title, LEGO Dimensions, boasts an impressive voice cast, to say the least. In a video, shown below, published on the official YouTube channel, Creative Director Jon Burton reiterates the emphasis on authenticity as reason for the illustrious cast.

LEGO Dimensions is an upcoming game capitalizing on the current trend of real, tangible toys and objects that also interact with video games. You can see examples in Skylanders and the smorgasbord of available Amiibos on the market, and Dimensions uses a similar approach. The game is sold with a starter kit that includes the primary interface device through which you use any additional booster kits. You start with the three main characters and a batmobile and your collection grows from there.

TT Games is really hammering home its extensive list of intellectual property, whose various universes are the unifying theme of the game. As the heroes, the player unlocks, for example, the Back to the Future universe by purchasing the respective kit, and then proceeds through that universe’s original plot line. And each universe has a new story to tell with the introduction of Batman and his pals into each line of continuity.

And, as stated, authenticity is the focus, so Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd have recorded reprise versions of their respective characters, Marty McFly and Doc Brown of Back to the Future. From The LEGO Movie, Chris Pratt is back as Emmet, Elizabeth Banks does Wyldstyle, Alison Brie is UniKitty, and Charlie Day as Benny, and that’s only to name a few.

LEGO Dimensions has its own original characters, X-PO and Lord Vortech, whose voices are supplied by Joel McHale and Gary Oldman, respectively. In all, though, there are 14 different universes from games, TV, and movies alike, and most have authentic voice actors backing the beloved characters.

You’ll find Portal characters, GLaDOS and Wheatley, voiced by Ellen McLain and Stephen Merchant, respectively, as well as DC Comics characters, Batman and Harley Quinn, voiced by Troy Baker and Tara Strong. From the Doctor Who universe comes Peter Capaldi as the 12th doctor, Jenna Coleman as Clara Oswald, and Michelle Gomez as Missy, among other original actors. It’s a similar case with Jurassic World, featuring Chris Pratt, Irrfan Khan and a handful of others from their original cast.

For any fans of LEGOs, games, movies, television, or any combination of the four, this is an exciting list. Players can experience it themselves on Xbox 360/One, PlayStation 3/4, and Wii U starting September 27th.
