Leaker Suggests Far Cry 7 Has Something to Do With Cillian Murphy

Ubisoft leaker j0nathan posted a series of cryptic images to Twitter hinting at elements that could be featured in the rumored Far Cry 7, one of which was a picture of Oscar-winning actor Cillian Murphy.

The first of the images shows Murphy, who has had roles in Batman Begins and Peaky Blinders and recently won an Oscar for his starring role in this summer’s Oppenheimer, with the others depicting a giant crab, a bomb with a timer set to 72 hours, and the number 7 in a forest. The French caption reads “if nothing changes by then” when translated.

The images prompted speculation that Murphy would be playing the game’s villain, as the Far Cry series has had celebrities fill that role before with Giancarlo Esposito in Far Cry 6 and Michael Mando in Far Cry 3. However, j0nathan later suggested that this was not the case.

“Mind you, I NEVER said Cillian Murphy was going to be in the game. The image means something else,” he wrote in a follow up tweet.

Prior rumors suggested that the game would revolve around rescuing a wealthy family, which must be done within 24 hours of in-game time or 72 hours of real time. This summary is supported by j0nathan’s image of the bomb with a timer.

As for the role Cillian Murphy and a giant crab play, all that can be done is speculate. It could be in relation to the actor’s Irish heritage or his relation to the atomic bomb, or it could be as simple as his name. One commenter guessed that the main character would be named Murphy and would have 72 hours to save an entire family, to which j0nathan replied that “it’s heating up.”

To commenters asking for more clarification, he stated that they would know more soon enough. For now, fans will have to wait for an official announcement from Ubisoft to find out exactly what part these images play.
