Latest Rainbow Six Siege Trailer Reveals a New Operator

As Rainbow Six Siege‘s next update draws closer, Ubisoft has introduced players to one of two new operators that are a part of Operation Para Bellum. This first operator, codenamed Alibi, is an Italian infiltration specialist inspired by those “in the Italian Raggruppamento Operativo Speciale unit.” She’s described on Ubisoft’s announcement as “a cunning woman with a gift for infiltrating dense networks of organized crime.”

Alibi, real name Aria de Luca, is an immigrant from Libya. When she was three years old, her family moved to Italy, where she earned her training in firearms. By the age of eighteen, Aria had entered the European Championships in firearms, and won gold in two divisions. After her wins, she was recruited into the police force by a Carabinieri recruiter. “De Luca’s precision shooting skills shot her up the ranks, and she served for a time with the elite Raggruppamento Operativo Speciale in fighting organized crime,” her Ubisoft bio says. “She eventually earned a spot in the Gruppo Intervento Speciale (G.I.S.), and following a successful operation in Afghanistan despite being separated from her unit, she was singled out for undercover work in organized crime. She infiltrated the Vinciguerra Crime Family and spent several years among them before bringing them down from the inside.”

The teaser doesn’t actually tell us the specifics of what Alibi’s abilities in a fight will be, though her bio description’s mention of precision shooting and the intro image with herself with a holographic double are enough to impart a few ideas. “Picking Alibi is an invitation for a battle of wits with your opponents,” Ubisoft added. “This Defender is all about finding clever ways to force the Attackers’ hands. Any hesitation comes at a heavy price.”

Alibi, along with much of the upcoming update’s contents, will get a full reveal during the game’s Pro League Finals stream. The Italian-themed Operation Para Bellum update doesn’t have a launch date yet; likely the livestream will provide those details as well. You can catch the stream on Rainbow Six Siege‘s Twitch channel from May 19-20.

Glenn Carreau: Hi! I'm Glenn: recent college grad specializing in interactive arts and media, writer, game creator and connoisseur, pop culture junkie, and semi-professional fan-artist and blogger. In my free time, I function as an unnecessarily specific gaming encyclopedia. I also play the violin, binge crime/detective procedural shows (still not sure why), and do a large amount of digital painting. I'm probably too attached to Dragon Age, but not really inclined to do anything about it. I'm a huge fan of cosplay, foxes, the prose of Jenny Lawson, and Strong Female Characters™.
