Latest Guilty Gear: Strive Trailer Features a Much Scarier Faust

Arc System Works shared their latest character trailer for the upcoming new installment in the Guilty Gear anime-style fighting game series Guilty Gear: Strive. Following up on teases, right after the Top 8 tournament event for Guilty Gear Xrd Rev 2 at this weekend’s Frosty Faustings fighting game event Arc System Works debuted the latest gameplay trailer featuring returning character Faust.

Guilty Gear‘s Faust first appeared in the 1998 game as “Dr. Baldhead” and is described as a medical genius who has gone insane after a girl patient dies during one of his surgeries. Over the years of Guilty Gear, Faust has exhibited an unorthodox moveset that according to the latest trailer now involves eating people alive in Strive. Another attack in Strive for Faust shows him giving his opponents afros (just go with it) and the trailer also shows off a creepier design that includes medical scrubs, a bag over his head, and some pretty sick sneakers. Faust was already a strange character, but it looks like his scarier appearance in Strive may be the strangest yet.

More trailers for the upcoming Guilty Gear: Strive are set to debut at the fighting game tournament events Brussels Challenge in Belgium and Final Round in Atlanta, both of which run from March 20th through the 22nd.

Arc System Works previously shared gameplay trailers for other characters confirmed for the Guilty Gear: Strive roster since announcing the game at EVO 2019 in August. Sol Badguy, Ky Kiske, and May are returning for Guilty Gear: Strive. Arc System Works is aiming to increase Guilty Gear‘s player base and spectatorship with Strive by making the game easier to follow visually, and possibly easier to begin playing for newcomers to the franchise.

The latest installment of the Guilty Gear series Guilty Gear: Strive is expected to release for PlayStation 4 sometime in the later half of 2020, commemorating 20 years of the franchise. A closed beta test for Strive is planned for spring 2020.

Angel Tuohy: I'm a fan of a lot of different games in different genres, and my favorites are Dark Souls, Final Fantasy, Street Fighter, Tekken, Persona, Resident Evil, and NieR. I think games are a brilliant way to tell a story, but it's important to me that the game is fun to play too. I've recently received my Master's degree in Literature.
