Coming fresh off 2015 Mobile Game of the Year awards from both The Game Awards and Canadian Videogames Awards, Lara Croft GO can add another prestigious award to its resume when it was named Game Of The Year on the Apple App Store Best Of 2015 list.
“We debated. We argued,” Apple writes in the intro. “Everyone had favorites, but to make this list of 2015’s finest, there could be no doubts. What you see here made the cut — they’re the most visionary, inventive, and irresistible apps and games of the year. After you’ve browsed our selections, don’t miss the titles that topped the charts in 2015.”
Lara Croft GO beat out Fallout Shelter, another game based on a popular franchise, and Mr Jump to take the top spot for the annual awards. The turn-based puzzle adventure was well received upon its release back in August garnerning positive review from publications such as IGN and Destructoid.
Studio head of Square Enix Montréal, Patrick Naud commented on the win, “From its legacy to its dedicated fan base, the Lara Croft franchise demanded and deserved the best GO adaptation we could possibly deliver.”
We worked tirelessly to make Lara Croft GO a truly special experience, and being chosen by Apple over so many other games is a humbling reflection of our team’s passion and hard work.
Apple’s Best Of 2015 Lists are based on regions but Lara Croft GO seems to have swept all territories. Congratulations to Square Enix Montreal on their big win!
