This is Lamborghini’s first real step in the eSports world, and they don’t plan for it to be their last. Stefano Domenicali, Chairman and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini commented on the new venture, saying “Our aim is to give a new platform for fans of luxury sports cars and sim racing to play with our brand in the virtual and real world. A new competition that will allow us to connect with our community in a different way…” Due to the recent global health crisis, eSports has seen a spike in popularity and prevalence, with sim racing at the helm. With traditional sports on the back burner, fans and organizations alike are turning to videogames to fill the void. Domenicali acknowledges this phenomenon, calling sim racing “one of the fastest growing sectors in eSports.”
