Kirby and the Forgotten Land Had the Biggest Kirby Launch in UK History

The long-awaited open-world Kirby title is finally here. Kirby and the Forgotten Land launched last week on March 25 and so far the title has been a welcome one to both the Kirby fan base as well as the video game community. So far it’s been generally well-received and looks to be one of the premier titles for the Nintendo Switch in 2022. This is further emphasized by new report from Gamesindustrybiz which has revealed that Kirby and the Forgotten Land sold more than 2 times the amount in its UK release, as well as landing the franchise’s first ever number 1 spot on the UK charts. This makes Kirby and the Forgotten Land the biggest Kirby launch in UK history.

Considering that the Kirby franchise has been going strong since the late 1980s, and has had a plethora of releases in the UK since this is an insane achievement for the franchise. It’s also worth noting that not only is this the first-ever number 1 spot for a Kirby game in the UK, it’s also a brand new entry in the franchise within its first week to make this milestone. To make this an even more impressive feat, Kirby and the Forgotten Land had to fend off other competitors that were already established in the year. This includes the just-launched Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, constant UK charter Grand Theft Auto V, and the most likely game of the year Elden Ring.

It’s also important to note that we still don’t have the sales numbers from any other region, including Japan and North America. It’s safe to say that when those numbers drop, the worldwide sales statistics are more than likely going to rise at a steady rate. Nintendo also does not reveal sales numbers for digital titles, which means that the actual sales statistics for Kirby and the Forgotten Land are exponentially higher than we realize. At this rate, Kirby and the Forgotten Land is on track to possibly become the highest-selling Kirby game of all time.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land is available exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
