King’s Bounty 2 Release Date has been Delayed to August

For fans that have been waiting since 1990 for a sequel to the beloved turn-based, fantasy game, King’s Bounty, will, unfortunately, have to wait just a little longer. Developer 1C Entertainment and publisher Deep Silver announced King’s Bounty 2 back in 2019 and it was originally supposed to release in 2020. However, it was delayed once to March of 2021 and once again to August of 2021, which will hopefully be its final delay. There have been smaller additions to the King’s Bounty series that have been released throughout the years, but this will be the first true sequel.

The sequel will combine the predecessor’s infamous turn-based action with a more modern adaptation of third-person, open-world adventure. There are expected to be three heroes to select at the start, each with their own storyline and then players can traverse the world to find quests and NPCs. The tone of the game also is a little bit different from the original with a more realistic, complex take on the fantasy genre.

The combat system is more in line with the original, however with added complexity. When players enter combat, they will be in tactical, turn-based battles where the choices that the players make will have greater repercussions on the world of Antara. The terrain will also play a more important role in the sequel as opposed to the flat battlegrounds in the original. There will be fewer large battles and more frequent, smaller fights. The producer, Denis Maltzev, explained the need for the delay recently.

“We are currently at a stage where the content is complete and playable, but we need more time to finish playtesting, fixing, and polishing. The revised launch date will give us additional time for balancing, which is much needed for such an important project, with its ambitious open-world, complex narrative, and deep turn-based tactical and RPG mechanics.”

Hopefully, fans will be able to play King’s Bounty 2 on August 24 when it will be available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
