It seems like the closer we get to the release for Kingdom Hearts 3, the more bad news comes out. First we had the leaks, now many won’t be receiving the Kingdom Hearts 3 PlayStation 4 Pro they ordered. The console was exclusive to GameStop and EB Games in North America, releasing with Kingdom Hearts 3 on January 29, 2019. However, good number of people who pre-ordered them from GameStop won’t be getting them due to the company overselling the consoles. According to Polygon, customers who had their orders cancelled received an email with a $25 coupon for GameStop orders. While those affected weren’t charged for the order that GameStop cancelled, it’s still a major inconvenience.
While this is the most recent case of GameStop overselling, it certainly isn’t the only time this has happened. The most notable other time this occurred was during the launch of the Nintendo Switch, with the company cancelling pre-orders thanks to taking more orders than they had consoles. Those affected understandably get extremely upset whenever this happens and take to social media to share their stories, as is evident by the number of people on Twitter who have responded to the Tweet GameStop posted regarding the matter. Hopefully GameStop will learn their lesson, but considering how often this has happened in the past, only time will tell whether this is the case.
In more positive news, Kingdom Hearts 3 is releasing in a few days. That means that if you fall into the group of people that didn’t pre-order the Kingdom Hearts 3 PlayStation 4 Pro and didn’t have it cancelled by GameStop, you’ll be able to get your hands on the game soon. For those who aren’t aware, reviews have released on many websites already for the game, so if you’re still on the fence about picking up the game, feel free to look into these reviews.
