The Kingdom Come series has had two successful entries so far, with Kingdom Come: Deliverance II selling two million copies in its first week, and maintaining a concurrent player count of 159,351 players, 60,000 more than the first game. The franchise has been praised for being largely historically accurate, with extreme attention and detail towards the period and location it’s set in, that being 15th Century Central Europe, as well as deep roleplay mechanics and gameplay that some have compared to the likes of The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind.
For some time, fans have been speculating on what Warhorse Studios will be doing next, and in a recent stream the developers discussed their future plans for an open-world RPG set in Lord of the Ring‘s Middle Earth, but also that they’d be working on a new Kingdom Come: Deliverance title as well, both of which were confirmed in an X post last week. Not much is known about the new game, and whether it will continue the story of Henry of Skalitz, but like its predecessors it will be open-world, though the scale of the map is unknown. According to Warhorse Communications Director Tobias Stolz-Zwilling, the new title will be led by Lead Designer and Creative Director Prokop Jirsa, who said, “We still continue expanding the universe of Kingdom Come… Do not forget that Kingdom Come: Deliverance always was and still is and always will be an absolute passion project here in the studio”.
Warhorse Studios have also announced that a Kingdom Come: Deliverance movie is in the works, with former KC:D director Daniel Vávra departing from game development to work on said project, Warhorse CEO Martin Fryvaldsky stating in an interview that it had nothing to do with any fallout with the studio, and was purely Vávra looking to explore new projects as he had been wanting to for some time.
