Video games and anime, the perfect combination. Kimetsu no Yaiba, more commonly known as Demon Slayer in the West, is easily among the most popular animes of its time. With one of the most successful manga series ever and a new top-grossing movie, it only makes sense that Demon Slayer would eventually branch into the video game world. While developments for the Demon Slayer video game The Hinokami Chronicles have been in the works for while, a recent trailer revealed that the game will have a Western release as well. With expectations high for the franchise, this new announcement has brought with it a lot for fans to look forward to.
Demon Slayer – The Hinokami Chronicles has been given a release date of October 15th, 2021 in in the West, just one day after its October 14th release date in Japan. This came as a big surprise to fans, who had previously been led to believe that the game’s release would be exclusive to Japan. The new trailer, released on June 24th, 2021, confirmed that the game would be getting an English language release. Fans of the anime will also be happy to know that the original Japanese and English dub voice actors will be reprising their roles throughout the game.
The game is centered around a Solo Mode that follows the storyline of the original anime and manga. Players will go through the Solo Mode as Tanjiro Kamado, and follow him on his continuing quest to turn his demon sister Nezuko back into a human. The trailer revealed a lot about the in-game battling system, which seems to focus around a series of combo moves, dodges, and perhaps even character dialogue as the characters fight. Based on the title and footage from the trailer, fans even speculate that Tanjiro may finally use Sun Breathing, also known as Hinokami Kagura, a plotline that has yet to concluded.
